About Adam Brody

Adam Jared Brody (born December 15, 1979) is an American actor best known for his breakout role as Seth Cohen on the Fox television series *The O.C.* (2003–2007), which established him as a teen icon. Born and raised in San Diego, California, Brody initially pursued acting after attending community college, moving to Los Angeles to advance his career[2][4][1]. Brody's early work included a portrayal of Barry Williams in *Growing Up Brady* (2000) and recurring roles on series such as *Gilmore Girls* (2002–2003). Following *The O.C.*, he transitioned to film with roles in *Mr. & Mrs. Smith* (2005), *Thank You for Smoking* (2005), *In the Land of Women* (2007), and *Jennifer’s Body* (2009). In the 2010s, he appeared in a mix of independent and mainstream films, including *Seeking a Friend for the End of the World* (2012), *Sleeping with Other People* (2015), *Lovelace* (2013), and the critically noted dark comedies *Ready or Not* (2019) and *Promising Young Woman* (2020)[2][3]. On television, Brody starred in and produced the crime drama series *StartUp* (2016–2018) and appeared in the Hulu miniseries *Fleishman Is in Trouble* (2022). More recently, he earned critical acclaim and nominations for a Golden Globe, Primetime Emmy, and won a Critics' Choice Television Award for his lead role in the Netflix romantic comedy series *Nobody Wants This* (2024)[2][3]. Brody also joined the DC Universe as Freddy Freeman in *Shazam!* (2019) and its sequel *Shazam! Fury of the Gods* (2023)[2][3]. Outside of acting, Brody is a musician involved with bands like Big Japan and has co-written a comic book miniseries titled *Red Menace*. He married actress Leighton Meester in 2014, and they have two children[1][4].
